Toddler Program

The Toddler Program focuses on developing children’s language skills, their physical movement skills and their senses so that they can grasp information better and communicate their needs and wants.

"

The child has a different relation to his environment from ours... the child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul. He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see and his ears hear

- Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p. 56

The Absorbent & Sensorial Mind

During the formative first six years, your child’s mind is highly receptive. Every experience is novel and captivating! Using her senses, she actively explores her surroundings, assimilating a wealth of information. Language, math, colours, flavours, textures—she deciphers various foundational systems. Building functional autonomy, she takes initial steps towards independence, mastering essential tasks, emotional regulation, and cooperation. Patience, empathy, conflict resolution, and problem-solving principles are also embraced. In essence, she learns to thrive in the classroom, gaining newfound confidence through her growing independence, even when away from home and family.

To make the most of these formative years, your child needs:

Practical Life

Engaging in activities like table setting, silver polishing, dishwashing, bean spooning (into actual jars!), hair brushing, and floor sweeping, your toddler gains valuable practice in self-care. These exercises teach cause and effect, problem-solving (e.g., handling a broken jar), foster motor skill development, and encourage collaboration, empathy, conflict resolution, and trust with individuals beyond their immediate family circle.

Sensorial Learning

At our Toddler program, we understand that sensory experiences are key to acquiring knowledge. We purposefully expose your child to various sensory stimuli, systematically enhancing their ability to differentiate and classify: distinguishing between colours, sizes, textures, tastes, and sounds. Through immersive and tactile explorations, your toddler develops pattern recognition, colour sorting, taste identification, sound association, and the ability to arrange shapes based on size and volume.

Toddler Specific Curriculum

Our Toddler program offers a curriculum that is tailor made for Toddler. Each activity is planned and promotes brain development, growth and learning.

Prepared Environment

Our environment is structured to promote independence, order, and self-discipline, allowing children to freely choose activities that align with their interests and skill levels.

Child Safe Environment

All the materials in the environment are child safe. We have given utmost care to prepare a space that feels safe and secure for toddlers to work and play.

Whole Child Development

The curriculum encompasses not only academic subjects but also social, emotional, physical, and moral development thus nurturing well rounded individuals.

Healthful Living

In the Toddler stage, children cultivate physical equilibrium while also honing the rituals, routines, and habits of a balanced lifestyle. They learn to embrace moments of movement and activity, as well as periods of calm and concentrated work. They understand the importance of outdoor exploration, rest, and nourishing themselves with wholesome food.

Math

Mathematics is interwoven into your child’s sensorial explorations during the Toddler stage. Engaging with activities like Nesting and Cylinder Blocks, Tower of Cubes, and other hands-on experiences, they cultivate essential skills such as one-to-one correlation, counting up to ten, and connecting symbols to quantities. These foundational abilities form the bedrock for future mathematical learning.

Language & Humanities

Through read-aloud sessions, picture sequencing, guided questioning, language cards, and other pre-reading exercises, your toddler enhances their vocabulary and nurtures both receptive and expressive language abilities. These language advancements occur within captivating humanities experiences that bring the broader world to life through hands-on and interactive approaches.

Science

By exploring the consequences of mixing water and flour, discovering the flavour-enhancing effect of butter on bread, investigating plant nutrition, and learning how to handle soil in the classroom garden, your child engages in immersive sensory experiences. These experiences indirectly introduce them to fundamental principles of cause and effect and natural laws, setting the stage for future scientific inquiries.
